NO! Providing you are located in with the UK or within the EU there will be no import duty to pay.

Yellow Fish Marine is the trading name of Yellow Fish Production Limited, a UK limited company run by Ross McCracken. After searching for a solution to finding water Ross built the first Yellow Fish Watermaker on board his boat in the Algarve, Portugal. Now, after sourcing his own manufacturers and suppliers we can offer our Watermaker kits at a lower price than it cost Ross to build his own the first time around!

Ross still uses his original Watermaker regularly and despite his attempts to break it in testing it’s still running beautifully!

Well, apart from our superb product and pricing we really do care that you are happy with your Watermaker. We don’t do unhappy customers and as a small company we have a great relationship with our existing ones. We’d like to think our personal customer service is superior to any other company in the industry and we hope to be able to help you on your water maker journey! Remember, if you have any further questions you can contact Ross directly on +44 (0)1273 319183. He’s always happy to chat.

On the Contrary! Our product is great quality and better than some more expensive versions on the market. Our pricing is lower because:

  •  We are a small, family run business with low overheads.
  • We want to sell more Watermakers and make the product accessible to all.
  • We believe the best advertising is recommendations. The more units we have out there the more our customer network grows.
  • We save money by eliminating fancy packaging. It's good for the environment too.
  • We buy from our manufacturers in bulk therefore reducing our costs.

It’s not rocket science but when you’re ordering in packaging for your product and at the same time your business recycling bin is filled with cardboard boxes from your suppliers then something is very wrong.

So, we got rid of our fancy packaging and reuse the packaging from not just our business but three other businesses local to us. This means a great saving that we can pass on to our customers and it’s better for the environment…. Genius…!

We don't sell the Karcher pressure washer with the Karcher driven systems simply because they are so readily available it's more cost effective to source your own. Simply search for Karcher k4 or 5 and you will be inundated with options. If space is a premium look for a K4 compact.

There are several advantages. Cost is an important factor. Our units can save you £1000s on an equivalent system. There is also very little to go wrong with readily available parts that don’t cost the earth and can be sourced all over the world. The unit is also modular so it can be installed in smaller vessels. Add to this the option to upgrade your water maker in future by adding membranes and it really is a no brainer!

Our Premium system also runs from a 1hp motor which also makes it one of the most efficient on the market.

Thats no problem! We have a premium system that comes complete with a dedicated high pressure pump.

At present we don’t offer a 12 volt version. With solar becoming more affordable and popular it’s becoming more efficient to run a 240 volt pump on an inverter than a 12 volt pump direct from the batteries. This is because the 240 volt system gives a higher output and therefore can be run for less time to achieve the desired output. Our system can be run on a small suitcase generator or an inverter. (Please check your inverter can run the system before ordering.)

We will however continue to look for an efficient 12 volt pump / motor which could be added to our systems in future. We just don’t think it exists yet for a reasonable price!

Our system comes as a kit so obviously we can’t guarantee against any problems due to the installation. However, our instructions are clear and we are on the phone to help if required. If the instructions are followed you shouldn’t experience any problems.

If in the unlikely event anything within the system breaks within the first year from purchase we will of course repair or replace the component. This excludes damage done through misuse of the system or due to an inadequate install. For example, running the system with the wrong type of pump, operating at a too high pressure or not flushing the system as per the instructions.

Most users need to dismantle some of the kit for installation. Doing this would break the seal provided by the PTFE tape meaning it would need to be removed from the threads and reapplied. This is more work than simply adding the tape on installation. To provide the kit fully assembled would require pressure testing equipment which would significantly add to the units cost. Hence the DIY kit option is far cheaper.

This varies depending on how often you use the system and the quality of the seawater it’s operating in. As a general rule, the manufacturers state that it should last around 7 years. We do know people still using theirs after 12 years!

if you have the premium kit this is included. If not.... read on.... If you intend to leave the water maker unused for any more than a week then we recommend using the auto flush fit to keep your Watermakers membrane and filters in top condition. If you intend to leave the system unused for any extended periods then we recommend Pickling you Watermaker. More details about this can be found online and in our blogs.
